The Hungarian Guard (Magyar Gárda) has been object of cenzorship on iwiw.hu (abbreviation for International Who is Who), a Hungarian social networking web service, owned by T-Online, the net branch of Magyar Telekom, majority-owned by Deutsche Telekom.

The controversial Magyar Gárda (Hungarian Guard) – whose members wear black vests, white shirts, Levi’s hats (a strange mixture of paramilitary/folksy uniform) - was condemned by international and local Jewish organisations, the Hungarian government, Tom Lantos (1) (2), commies, antifas and other bodies. The Magyar „Blackvests” Gárda says on its website that it was formed because Hungary lacks “physical, mental or spiritual self-defence.” By the way, it is a formally constituted/registered non-profit, welfare, voluntary, community-based organization with strong links to Jobbik, a small rightist protest-party. Hungary is a free country, officials shall not restrict in any way the freedom of expression or freedom of assembly.

The Guard had on iwiw 16000 contacts (and counting), among them Santa Claus, strippers, the Young Alcoholics, the Party Girls, a sex shop and various others, including even the Hungarian Jewish Cemetery Trust.


The iwiw management argued that some users lodged complaints because of Garda. The iwiw is open only for private persons, the presence of political organizations is not welcomed. The Garda has been banned from iwiw users due to allegations claiming that they disturb the community and are a political organization. This is obviously the case of double standards, because many political organisations (such as the openly communist Munkáspárt) are present among users even today. Apparently, iwiw is not anymore the place where the free and vigorous exchange of ideas are not only welcomed but encouraged.
